The African Penguin makes braying sounds like a donkey.
The female is smaller & has a shorter bill than the male.
African Penguins start breeding between 2 and 6 years of
age, (females usually reach sexual maturity around 4 years,
and males around 5 years).
They are a monogamous species and the same pair generally
returns to the same nest each year. Eighty to ninety percent of
pairs remain together in consecutive breeding seasons, with some being
known to remain together for over ten years.
